A second factor that makes us vulnerable to temptation is our personality, our temperament. By nature, certain temptations appeal to us more than others. For instance, you may be the kind of person who will do almost anything to be accepted—making you especially susceptible to peer pressure. That being the case, choosing the right friends is doubly important if you hope to live an overcoming life.
“If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care?”
— James 4:4 (MSG)
Jesus help us to examine ourselves so we can recognize where we are most vulnerable to temptation. Help us guard our hearts and minds lest we succumb to temptation. Amen.
