Lies take many shapes and are often based on half-truths. No lie is more insidious than that which uses the truth to deceive. For instance, when Jesus told the woman at the well to go and call her husband, she replied, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true” (John 4:16-18).

Let me ask you a hard question: “Are you telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth or are you using partial truths to deceive?”

“No one who practices deceit
will dwell in my house;
no one who speaks falsely
will stand in my presence.”

— Psalm 101:7 (NIV)

Lord Jesus help us to speak the whole truth and only in love. Amen.
