It isn’t easy to worship when your heart is breaking, but it’s mandatory. It’s the only thing that can sustain you during the weeks and months of unrelenting grief. A friend whose child died told me, “God is worthy to be praised at all times even in this time of unspeakable loss. It was easy to praise Him before our baby died. But is important to praise Him now. He is our only hope.” No matter how desperate your situation I encourage you to give the Lord a sacrifice of praise. Say with Job:

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.”

— Job 13:15 (KJV)

Lord Jesus, You are worthy to be praised even when our hearts are breaking. Therefore, we offer You a sacrifice of praise. Amen.
