Yesterday I told you of a young woman who was emotionally scarred when her father hurled her into the path of an oncoming truck. Thankfully she wasn’t seriously injured but she grew up thinking, “If my father doesn’t love me, if my father doesn’t want me, if my father threw me away, then I must be worthless.” When a person grows up believing she is worthless she soon begins living in self-destructive ways. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Now let me ask you what the voices inside your head are telling you. Are they telling you that you are beloved of the Father or are they telling you that you are worthless?

“We had to celebrate. This brother of yours was dead, and he’s alive! He was lost, and he’s found!”

— Luke 15:32 (MSG)

Jesus, still the accusing voices that torment us and heal our wounded soul. Amen.
