As we enter Holy Week, I invite you to join me as I reflect on Jesus ‘seven words from the cross. As He was being crucified, He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). His words took the executioner by surprise. Victims of crucifixion usually died raving like mad men. But not Jesus. Instead, he prayed, “Father forgive them.” If Jesus interceded for His executioners, asking His father to forgive them, we may be assured that He is interceding for us and that He stands ready to forgive us.

“He [Jesus] is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

— Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV)

Lord help us to realize that You are more eager to forgive us than we are to be forgiven. Amen.
