As the songwriter so aptly put it, “Troublesome times are here filling men’s hearts with fear.” In times like these it is natural to focus on the crises all around us. It may be natural, but it is deadly. Focusing on the crisis magnifies the danger while minimizing God’s sufficiency. But if we can discipline ourselves to focus on God who is a very present help in the time of trouble (see Ps. 46:1) we can live with faith and not fear.
So, what are you focusing on? God or the crisis?

Lord Jesus, may we experience Your supernatural presence no matter how severe the crisis. Grant us peace in the midst of every storm. Amen.
