In order for Joseph to survive 13 years of slavery and imprisonment he had to cultivate a special attitude. No matter how tough things became he refused to give up on his God-given dreams. No matter how unfairly he was treated he refused to give into self-pity or bitterness. Although it seemed his time in prison would never end he refused to become impatient. He could have stopped caring for others and He could have lost hope in God, but he didn’t. And because remained true, God delivered him from prison and made him the second most powerful man in Egypt.

“…the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.”

— Genesis 39:23 (NIV 1984)

Lord Jesus, cultivate in us an attitude like Joseph’s. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
