We shouldn’t be surprised when hard times overtake us. The Bible tells us they will come. Job 5:7 declares, “…man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.” So what can we do when trouble comes? We can strengthen ourselves in the Lord (Eph. 3:16). Since we cannot reduce the external pressure trouble produces we must strengthen our internal spiritual supports. Jude tells us to “…build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 20).
“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us . On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, we ask You to deliver us from trouble, but if You don’t deliver us, then give us the strength to bear it. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
