If you cannot talk about past hurts and betrayals without experiencing strong emotions, then you are probably still dealing with unforgiveness. When we have truly forgiven those who have sinned against us, we can remember the betrayal without reliving the pain.

“‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”

— Matthew 18:21-22

Lord Jesus, by an act of my will I choose to forgive those who have sinned against me. Make my obedient act of faith real in my spirit and in my emotions. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
