How we respond when we are passed over for something we desperately want reveals the hidden depths of our heart. If we humbly submit saying, “The Lord’s will be done,” then we can be assured that our motives are pure and God’s glory is our only desire. But if we sulk and protest the unfairness of it all, maybe it was more about us—what we wanted—than about God’s glory.

“May he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

— Hebrews 13:21 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, let me decrease, that You may increase. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
