Change often requires us to face new challenges and learn new skills with the accompanying risks. The church must change the way it functions to meet the varied and complex demands of people living in post Covid-19. If we try to hang onto the old ways of doing ministry, we will be left behind, yet that’s exactly what we’re tempted to do. Are there risks inherent in change? Absolutely, but the risks of trying to recreate the past are even greater.
“But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”
— Genesis 19:26
Lord Jesus, we can’t live in the past or we will die, but if we forget the past, we will lose our way. Help us to appreciate our past without trying to recreate it and to embrace the future with faith. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
